Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

What is MyEggPrint?

MyEggPrint is a tool designed to help Egg packers, Feed mills and Poultry farmers track, manage, and optimize the environmental impact of their egg production. It integrates production, feed, and sustainability data to help producers make informed decisions about their operations and assists them to meet sustainability targets of carbon footprint.

What key data does MyEggPrint track?

  • Flock data: Production phase, start and end dates, animal numbers, and mortality rates.
  • Egg production: Number of eggs per hen, egg weight, and egg production concepts (e.g., egg label categories such as "Beter Leven").
  • Feed consumption: Types and amounts of feed used per batch or flock.
  • Energy consumption: Electricity (grid and green), diesel, and natural gas consumption during flock production cycles.
  • Sustainability metrics: Carbon footprint, CO2-eq kgs per kg of whole eggs. Extending to other sustainability parameters is foreseen and can be done when the markets require this.

How can I add a flock in MyEggPrint?

To add a new flock, navigate to the "Flock" section once the Farm and HenHouse have been created, click "Add New Flock", and fill in the required details such as:

Flock characteristics

  • Name of the flock
  • Production phase (e.g., Layers or Rearing)
  • Start date
  • Start Weight
  • Egg Label
  • Breed
  • Egg Color

From rearing

  • Initial number of animals
  • Hatch date
  • Carbon footprint per hen

Feed

  • Initial Feeding program assigned

Can I track the environmental impact of my egg production?

Yes, MyEggPrint includes a Sustainability calculation that allows you to track your flock's environmental footprint considering all input factors like pullets, feed from raw materials, transport, manure emissions and energy used and considers the output (eggs, hens for slaughter) as well . This leads to carbon footprint per kg whole eggs produced. The final carbon footprint is being split per category to provide clarity on where the main impact comes from. The Feed part is being split up per ingredient in total carbon footprint and Land Use Change part. The latter includes deforestation and changes in land use.

How does MyEggPrint calculate feed conversion ratios?

MyEggPrint calculates the Feed Conversion Ratio (FCR) by dividing the amount of feed consumed by the flock by the total number of eggs produced times average egg weight. This ratio helps assess the feed efficiency. Efficiency contributes to sustainability. It is good to be able to see both technical performance and carbon footprint, to take the most adequate decisions for your farm and flocks.

How can I provide energy consumption data?

To provide energy data, go to the "Energy Consumption" section within the flock's closeout section. This is where you can input the actual energy usage figures. MyEggPrint requires electricity, diesel, and natural gas consumption per flock. If these values are not available a default might be used.

Can I export data from MyEggPrint to Pdf?

Yes, MyEggPrint provides the option to export flock, feed, and production data into PDF-formats for easier reporting and presenting to stakeholders. Navigate to the specific section, and you’ll find an export button for generating these files.

How do I input egg production data?

When you close a flock or edit a flock you can enter key data such as:

  • Total eggs produced
  • Eggs per hen
  • Average egg weight
  • Egg production concept (e.g., free-range, organic, etc.)

How do I track transportation details?

MyEggPrint includes flock transportation and transportation of complete feeds by truck by keying in distance in kilomters. The transport of raw material is already included in MyFeedPrint. When you import feeds transportation and processing details are available.

Is there a way to manage multiple flocks?

Yes, MyEggPrint allows you to manage multiple flocks simultaneously. Each flock has its own profile where you can track individual data for egg production, feed, energy consumption, and sustainability metrics. The dash board provides you final overviews of all flocks in a farm over a certain time or of various farms producing under the same Egglabel-concept (for example Free Range)

Can I use feed programs with MyEggPrint?

Yes, you can define certain feed programs and use them for multiple flocks. When you add a feedprogram the feed amounts need to be specified or updated for each flock. This enables you to reuse feedprograms for different flocks.

How do I access flock data or historical data for a flock?

In the Flock Overview, MyEggPrint stores all flock data. Historical and actual flock data can be accessed from this list. You can view historical flock data and view reports or edit flock data.

How does MyEggPrint verification and certification work?

The methodology behind MyEggPrint is certified. Standardized global certified databases are used like GFLI to provide the sustainability details of all raw material per country of origin. The tool MyEggPrint itself is awaiting certification.

How can I compare two flocks in MyEggPrint?

If you select two flocks from your flocklist you can use the “compare flocks”-button to view both flocks in one overview. This makes it easier to see where differences in final carbon footprint are caused by.

How can I see what impact changes feeding schemes, raw materials, genetics, etc have on carbon footprint?

You can “Simulate a flock”. In this way you can create a coipy of your flock and change certain factors and calculate and compare the impact on carbon footprint. This makes it easy to make transparent what the impact is of changing raw material origins or use of solar panels, etc.

How do I get my raw material data and how does this get translated into compound feeds?

All the information from raw material, processing of complete feeds and transport of raw materials comes from MyFeedPrint. You can import this in the Feed-section into MyEggPrint.

Can I use some local raw materials in my feeds?

Yes, this is possible. You can use raw materials as a complete feed containing just this single raw material component and define all your local details. Remember to add Processing as well since otherwise it might be rejected. You can import it like other complet feeds and use it in your feed programs.

How do the tools  MyFeedPrint and MyEggPrint work together to get my carbonfootprint figures?

Currently MyFeedPrint takes care of trajectory from raw material production to complete feeds and MyEggPrint covers the on farm production of eggs. In MyFeedPrint you can generate an export (JSON-file) which can be imported and used in MyEggPrint.
